I Have Cool Friends : Artists 2

2011.04.20 / Japan / posted by idrawgood

I've had the pleasure of being surrounded by incredibly talented people at different points in life. Here are some of those people. Also check out the previous post, I Have Cool Friends: Artists.

Logan Hall ( www.myspace.com/rubyweaponrubyweapon )

logan dunk Aside from having pretty hair, Logan (a.k.a. Dr. Dunk) is a multi-threat artist. His roles in projects range from writer to director to editor to talent (and I'm not just takling about sexy dancing). Check out some of his projects, which boast an intoxicating mix of humor and artistic flair. For Dr. Dunk's musical stylings, check out Ruby Weapon's Party Thighs. For Logan's work as a director/editor, check out Dastardly's live video, or Logonom, which he also co-wrote.

Lauryn Bushman ( www.laurynphotography.com )

lauryn bus Lauryn's got an amazing eye. She can take what is seemingly the most simple subject and charge it with emotion and meaning. What I admire most about photographers like her is that the camera is an extension of their vision; she always finds just the right perspective to put an intriguing spin on the image. While her photography hobby has already reached the professional realm, most of her career efforts are directed towards industrial design. To see that work, check out www.lauryndesign.com.

Aubrey Peth ( www.flickr.com/photos/aubreypethart )

aubrey glass Aubrey's been a pal since high school, and I've always admired her technical ability, especially in watercolor. Recently, though, her art has taken a more introspective turn, as she mixes media to tell stories that read like fleeting thoughts. The delicacy of her approach tames the abstraction inherent in her juxtaposition of subjects, and the result is both inviting and engaging. Her instant saints series, which takes the sometimes lofty theme of religion and applies it to things in our everyday paths, is definitely worth a browse.
